The best music festivals in Hungary

Although spring has just arrived, the promotions of summer festivals have already started to flood the internet. And so far it seems that they have managed to put people in the festival mood, that is at least me. I can’t wait the moment when summer is finally here and it brings the festival season with itself. Now I would like to share the list of music festivals with you that definitely worth visiting in Hungary and also a quick checklist about music festival essentials.

Volt festival – my favourite

When? 26-30.06.2018

Where? Sopron, Hungary

Why will you love it?
  • Iron Maiden! They’ll come, and I know that now they are not at the top anymore, but who cares?! It’s pretty good stuff that they are still active and professional artists, even if they are at the age of sixty-something (or seventy-something? Even cooler!).
  • Other big artists will also come such as Depeche Mode, Limp Bizkit, Avenged Sevenfold, Alan Walker and others
  • Big wheel, bungee jumping
  • It’s a kind of music festival what you will love, I know.
  • They have transfer service from Budapest.

Sopron is the city of loyalty and freedom in Hungary. If you decide to skip the festival for one day to chill in the city, do not miss to visit the Fire Tower and the Old Town of Sopron, it’s so stunning. I can recommend Lővér Adventure Park for adrenaline seekers, they’ll wait for you with some amazing ropeways.

Balaton Sound

When? 4-8.07.2018

Where? Zamárdi, Hungary

Why will you love it?
  • The Chainsmokers, David Guetta, Rita Ora and others
  • Show elements: Balaton sound giant title on the tier, fireworks, foam, confetti, fire, dancers, so much fun
  • Big wheel, ropeway
  • The festival is on the bank of Lake Balaton, and actually in it
  • They have transfer service from Budapest.

There is Lake Balaton, let’s chill and splash. For adventure seekers: Adventure park Zamárdi. If you need some calm and fresh air, take a trip to Kőhegy viewpoint. I can recommend the Benedictine Abbey and Museum for museum lovers and if you still don’t get sick of alcohol try tasting some Hungarian specialty, “pálinka” at Zimek Pálinka Manufactory.

  • Dua Lipa, Gorillaz, Lana Del Rey, Arctic Monkeys and others

Ehm… Explore the capital city. Yeap, this is my ultimate guide of Budapest. Ok, I’m just kidding, but I think Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities in the whole World, even more, I wrote a love letter to the city. This city is full of must-see attractions and spots, such as Hero’s square, the castle, St. Stephen’s Basilica, Shoes on the bank of River Danube, spas and baths and much more. If you can’t find an interesting spot here, just call me and I’ll show you.

“Do not forget to pack” music festival packing list

I do not want to make a list about basics, such as tents and their structures, socks, and bras (of course you should bring them as well) you’ll find a list below about things that you may forget, but you shouldn’t.

  • Glitter – don’t judge, just take it
  • Water gun – for the explanation please check the line above
  • Kleenex – I always have it with me and everyone always wants mine. Bring it with yourself! (Just kidding, I’ll give you some if you need one… but please do not forget to pack it!)
  • Baby wipes
  • Some painkiller and adhesive plaster
  • Mosquito spray
  • Deodorant – it’s summer…
  • Dry shampoo
  • Hand sanitizer
  • More glitter
  • Portable phone charger – yes, your phone will die, even if you hold it on flight mode
  • Waterproof phone case or/and plastic baggies
  • Selfie stick
  • Extra large scarf – I always put it on all of my lists, such a useful thing!
  • Quick-dry towel
  • Swimsuit – still looking for the best swimsuit? Check Poppy Apparel Shop, use “onlythefeelingremains” promotion code and get 15% off from your entire order. Oh, and free shipping worldwide
  • Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses
  • Refillable water bottle – because bottled water can be so expensive at music festivals, it’s almost the same price as alcohol, and I bet you’ll choose alcohol instead of water, but you should drink as much water as you can.
  • Fanny pack – I know, I know… just think that it is sooo practical
  • Some snack
  • Glitter!!!
  • Trash bag – mainly for trash but not only. You can use it many ways, as a poncho when it rains (fine, it’s not too hot, but let’s face it: after a couple of shots, you aren’t going to care about it), you can sit down on it, etc. Be creative! It’s cheap, easy to get and it can fit in a small place.
  • Condoms – just in case… it’s even better and easier than to say sorry
  • Bottle opener
  • Lighter, even if you don’t smoke
  • And glitter!!!! I almost forgot.
